Mexico Energy Saving Approval is created and mandatorily requested starting from September 2011 to enhance product safety and to provide certificates to products that complies with the standard. The certification bodies are CONUEE, which is in charge of review test report and issue the certificate) and PROFECO, which is in charge of the market investigation.
Ther Mexico Energy Saving Approval is mandatory starting Sept. 2011. All electronic products should bear energy saving label, and Power consumption data (energy consumption in Watts per hour) should be appropriately labeled. . A penalty of USD 100, 000 will be imposed to manufactures, importers or resellers whose products are unlabeled
It is acceptable that labeling information are marked in user’s manual or boxes if the products are too small to affix labels. .
For applicants that are speeding their products into the Mexican market, customer can label the goods and attach NOM certificate to the shipment prior to obtaining Mexico Energy Saving Approval Letter. The label should be in in yellow and marked as below:
“Consumo de energia”:is the Power Consumption per hour in Watts.
“Consumo de energia en modo de espera”: is the Power Consumption at standby mode.
