PSE Mark Scheme regulates 453 electrical/ electronic appliances and components according to Japan Denan Law. PSE Products consist of two groups. Specified Products (SP, Category A) –including DC power supplies(AC Adaptors, LED drivers), a total of 115 items and Non-Specified Products (NSP, Category B) – 338 items. All products should undergo product certification and factory inspection by CAB(Certification accreditation body) recognized by METI. Factory inspection is conducted by factory and product category. The validity of certificate varies from 3~7 years according to each product category.

1. Category A includes 115 mandatory items such as external power supply is in the scope.
   Products classified as Category A need to apply for "Diamond PSE" and the certificate must issue by the qualified certification body.
   There are 2 Ordinance Articles for diamond PSE.
   A.Ordinance Article 1: based on Japan local testing law harmonized with IEC standard
   B.Ordinance Article 2: based on CB or test by IEC standard
2. Category B includes 338 mandatory items such as audio/ video products. Products classified as Category B need to apply for "Circle PSE". Registration on the official website through qualified certificate bodies or manufactures self-declaration is required.
3. The products which out of Category A and Category B scope can consider about apply for the Japan S-Mark.Japan S-Mark is a voluntary safety logo, customers' products which chose to apply for S-Mark will test by Japan DENAN law or IEC standard so that the accredited products will have more competitiveness on the market.
