Certification and Pre-License Inspection
Product Evaluation is based on harmonized European standards. Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive and MachineryDirective are references to the harmonized standards. An IEC standard Certificate is issuedifEuropean standard is not available for theapplied product that conforms to GS requirement. Validity of Certificate is five years.
Factories should pass Pre-license factory Inspectionprior to issuance of certificate. Annual factory follow-up inspection is required. Product Evaluation should be carried out in accordance to electrical safetyEuropean harmonized standard &German National Deviation. In addition, it should be performed in accordance to ZEKwhich is made by ZEK, and EK1 (Exchange of Experience Forum 1)which is composed by the GS interpretation group . Some products should undergo ergonomic testing. Accordingto ZEK 01-08,starting from April 1,2008,PAHs evaluation should be considered to comply with the regulatory requirement and to avoid hazard to human health. This mandatory requirement applies to all materials which might contain PAHs that are exposed to human body or put into mouth under normal use or foreseeable reasonable misuse. ZEK01.1-08 revised version,ZEK 01.1-08, is published and implemented on June 25, 2008. Ergonomic testing is required for a wide range of products from LCD/CRT display device, Computer, Notebook to other peripherals ie. keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner etc…that applies for GS marks. These products should all comply to the related ergonomics standard in theEK1-ITB2000 standard.
