Introduction
INMETRO is the authority responsible for the accreditation of certification bodies and laboratories, and for the development and implementation of the Brazilian certification system. INMETRO determines which products are categorized in mandatory controlled product list could be tested voluntarily. It’s mandatory that products in the controlled product list should undergo testing and certification by INMETRO accredited certification bodies prior to shipment in Brazil. Testing and certification must be performed in accordance with the Brazilian NBR standards. If no NBR standard exists for the product, the IEC standard could be referred to. (NBR standards are converted from IEC standards and include national deviations). Factory inspections is required for INMETRO certification.
